Let the Roundups Begin
For the week of 05.11.2026-.05.15.2026
Take Steps Fighting Chance – From Albany, NY Takes Steps plays new school pop-punk that takes a lot from Lifetime and early Saves the Day and slaps on a shimmering shine of shoegaze guitars everywhere.
Roman Candle Unadulterated – Some metalcore/screamo from Los Angeles. Roman Candle do it well and it comes off a bit unhinged where their mosh parts having mosh parts and panic chords all over the place. Not my type ‘core but I could have easily seen this band on Ferret Music or Trustkill in the late 90s.
The Great St. Louis Stay Right There – This UK band has been around for a minute if I remember correctly. Featuring half of Stay Clean Jolene, The Great St. Louis play heartland punk. This usually isn’t my favorite sub-genre of melodic punk as it seems to all circle back to post Epitaph Hot Water Music. However, The Great St. Louis is definitely catchy and would fit in well with The Fest and circa 2005 PunkNews scene.
FakeYou Promise to Disappear - Jawbreaker-is type gruff punk from Montreal. Been a minute I hear a band so indebted to the San Franciscan greats, so I enjoyed this. The slow songs are really Jawbreaker-like. Sorry, it’s what I’m hearing. If you like emotive pop-punk with gravelly vocals and broken hearts then FakeYou is for you.
